Dr. Loren David White
Loren was born in Nairobi, Kenya in 1968. He grew up in North Florida and Southwest Texas. In 1977 he accepted Christ as his personal savior and lord while attending Antioch Baptist Church (Gainesville, FL). Some ministries that Loren has been involved Campus Crusade for Christ, Mission Mississippi, and Wycliffe Associates. He initiated the "Perspectives on the World Christian Movement" course in Tallahassee, FL in 1997, and helped with the course in Jackson, MS. He assisted with music and preaching at Hispanic missions in Alabama and Florida, and has participated in various international mission trips. Loren was ordained as a deacon at Cleary Baptist Church (Florence, MS) in 2004, and is currently an active member at Daniel Memorial Baptist Church (Jackson, MS).
In 1996, Loren completed his Ph.D. in Meteorology at Florida State University. Since 1998 he has been on the faculty at Jackson State University. He maintains membership in the American Meteorological Society, National Weather Association, American Geophysical Union, and Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society. He has four children and is married to the former Nancy MacMinn of Bathurst, New Brunswick. He began canoeing around 1980 while in Boy Scouts in Uvalde, TX. This led to a 120 mile canoeing trip through the wilderness of Manitoba and Ontario. Although he ventured into the coastal waters of the Gulf of Mexico by canoe in Texas, Loren did not begin sea kayaking until his doctoral studies in Tallahassee, FL.
