Cassville Ferry: Across Mississippi River, between Wisconsin Hwy 133/81 and Iowa Hwy 52/C9Y; weekends May-October, and Wednesday-Sunday from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day; 9 am to 9 pm; $10 per vehicle; 1 mile; ? minutes. (608) 725-5180 (Clayton County)

Discontinued Ferries:

In 1849 "over 11 ferries crossed the Missouri between St Joseph, Missouri and Council Bluffs, Iowa."

Beginning in 1852 "more overland traffic would cross the Missouri River at Kanesville/Council Bluffs that any other "jump-off" point. Emigration was so heavy this year there was often a six-week wait at the ferry crossings."

Fulton ferries: discontinued in 1918.
